Prelude to the Prologue to a Phenomenology of Individual Investor Consciousness
By Kynikos | March 13, 2007
I–by these words–am committing myself to write a series, wherein I will examine the nature of the Consciousness (large “C,” denoting the intended hypostatization of that which is inherently non-substantial and generally, if not wholly, misunderstood) that undergirds the actions of the individual investor, to which class of persons I belong. I do not propose that what I will write will be exhaustive, comprehensive, or (perhaps) fully-coherent. However, my words will attempt (as best words can be expected to do) to convey and, insofar as is possible, concretize the ineffable, viz. that which seems to inform the decisions(or indecisions, as the case may be) of the thinking agent, viz. the individual investor. In the spirit of existential phenomenology, I hereby admit that my very attempt is doomed to fail, yet, nonetheless, must proceed–not so different from how we are all fated to die, yet must attempt to sustain our existence, everyday. The succeeding examination is about the journey; the best for which we can hope is a glimpse of the shadow caused by the glimmer radiated by Truth (synonymous with Consciousness, that of which we will attempt to become conscious). To conclude the proceeding commencement: “Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch’entrate.”
